Mint Tea

Mint Tea - Spice & Heat pinit

Mint tea is the easiest recipe ever! All it needs is a few mint leaves, hot water and honey (optional). Mint is readily available and you can purchase them for as low as 25/= or you can grow some in your garden. The fresher, the better. I wouldn’t advice on getting dried mint leaves because they are not as good as fresh mint leaves.

It is actually referred to as an herbal tea since it does not contain caffeine. You can even have it before bed and not worry about it keeping you up like coffee.

Aside from it being a refreshing drink, mint tea has it’s benefits:

1. Treats bad breath

The aromatic scent of mint tea helps to cover bad breath while the antibacterial properties work from within to kill the germs and bacteria that cause bad breath.

2. Improves sleep patterns

Drinking peppermint tea before going to bed is a good alternative to drinking coffee. It is a caffeine-free drink which acts as a muscle relaxant and enhances sleep. It can help you relax before bedtime.

3. Prevents nausea

Peppermint tea has antispasmodic properties that can treat the feelings of nausea and prevent vomiting. The scent of peppermint can inhibit feelings of nausea while organic compounds in the mint help to soothe stomach muscles that contract and lead to vomiting. It also helps to prevent motion sickness.

4. Improves focus

The aroma of peppermint may help to boost focus and concentration. The smell enhances memory and increases alertness.

5. Eases headaches

These leaves do wonders for your stress. The relaxation of nerves and, most importantly, mental peace.
